SO FRESH SO CLEAN

This bathroom makeover might be my favorite room in the house. I went for a vintage 1940s barbershop one where you would see pinstripe suits, hot shaves, and big band music playing on a crackly radio. It’s the boys’ hall bath, so I wanted something with old school charm but still totally functional and a little funny.

The black paneling, classic tile, and moody tones gave it that timeless look, but what really pulled it together were the little touches—like the handmade neon “So Fresh” sign, vintage hardware, high tank pull chain toilet, and those custom labels that feel like they came straight off a backroom shelf in a 1940s apothecary. The sinks were chosen to feel like old washbasins you’d find in a downtown barbershop, and the floors give off that warm woodgrain that balances out all the black. I built a cubby with a Crate55 vintage-inspired crate turned storage unit. it’s both useful and fits the theme.

And then there’s the styling, which might be the best part. The cabinet is full of vintage grooming gear, custom-labeled jars fitting for a boys bathroom, and some old-school tins and brushes we scored from swap meets and antique stores. A few pieces were even hand picked from Tennessee to finish it off.

It’s the kind of room that will make you want to throw on a fedora, lather up some shaving cream, and cue the Glenn Miller. It’s classy, nostalgic, and has just enough humor to make it feel like home.
