THE SPEAKEASY GARAGE SALON

7/9/2020

When my mom’s salon had to close during COVID, it was such a sad time. That place was the best. We had the greatest clients, the funnest coworkers, and it just felt like home. I still wanted to take care of my clients, so I decided to make something happen right here at home. I turned my garage into my own little salon and called it The Speakeasy Salon – Strong Ales & Pony Tails

I wanted it to have that vintage, cozy vibe, so I grabbed some brick panels from Home Depot to set the tone. For my station, I flipped some old fruit crates upside down, then added legs to another one and tucked in two custom made salon crates for storage. My neighbors gave me this amazing 100 year old cabinet, which I fixed up for even more storage. My towel cabinet and tool cabinet were actually old sugar, tea, and coffee bins I found at a barn sale—they just needed a little paint and they fit right in.

Now it’s got this fun, speakeasy vibe with a mix of old and new. There are vintage prints on the walls, repurposed pieces everywhere, and little details that make it cozy for a garage. It’s not just a place to get your hair done, it’s a cozy hangout, a little getaway, and a way to keep those good salon vibes going, but shhhh... don't tell anyone.
